The visiting delegation
The delegation from Alto Adige-Südtirol will include institutions, wine producers and winery representatives, and the chef of a renowned restaurant, an emblem of local gastronomy:
- Manfred Vescoli: President of the South Tyrolean Wine Route (Südtiroler Weinstrasse), is a key figure in promoting and enhancing the unique character and culture of the South Tyrol-Südtirol region from both a wine and tourism perspective. The Wine Route encompasses numerous wineries, municipalities, and tourism associations, all united in the goal of elevating the wine experience in South Tyrol-Südtirol.
- Oskar and Ingrid Messner: respectively the chef and sommelier of the Pitzock restaurant, a sought-after establishment that the couple has expertly transformed from a simple village inn into an unusual, pleasant, modern little restaurant with a terrace, offering superb cuisine with local products mainly from Val di Funes.
- Peter and Brigitte Pliger: owners of the Kuenhof winery, an ancient and evocative estate dating back to the twelfth century, located south of Bressanone, which produces four white wines with a strong personality. The grapes from which they originate grow on the steep terraces clinging to the slopes of the Valle Isarco (Isarco Valley) and are vinified in the historic cellar of the farmstead, which is protected by the Cultural Heritage authority.
- Thomas Dorfmann: oenologist and owner of the eponymous wine estate in Untrum, in Valle Isarco, the northernmost cultivation area of South Tyrol, which gives rise to wines with a unique character: freshness, intense fruity aroma, elegance, minerality, robust acidity, and a balanced body.
- Daniele Galler: sales director Italy of the Cantina di Bolzano (Bolzano Winery), a wine cooperative known for the production of quality wines, which represent the icons of local viticulture. Galler is a figure of the highest profile, capable of speaking about the wines and the territory with great expertise, passion, and engagement.
- Werner Waldboth: sales and marketing director at Novacella Abbey, whose winery is one of the oldest in the world still in operation, with a wine tradition dating back to 1142. «In recent years we have started important collaborations with the French wine regions of Champagne and Burgundy and with Sonoma and Napa Valley, two of the most important wine producing areas in California – explains the Director of the Strada del Barolo Daniele Manzone – and this year we have decided to propose a similar initiative, again together with the Ente Fiera del Tartufo, inviting a delegation of producers and institutions of Alto Adige-Südtirol, a territory that tells its identity through quality wines and by offering an original and authentic tourist offer. This operation is fully in line with the spirit of our association, which is to create knowledge, relationships and friendships with other territories, with which we share the same values of excellence. Barolo producers are particularly interested in establishing relationships and sharing experiences with other producers, we, as an association for the promotion of the territory, aim to create relationships between bodies and institutions and therefore hope for the beginning of an effective collaboration both in the wine field and in the high-level wine tourism field, comparing ourselves with national and international partners on how to promote wine intelligently and how to attract tourists in an innovative and experiential way».
