Dogliani DOCG

Dogliani DOCG: an excellent Dolcetto
History and origins
The bond between Dolcetto and the Dogliani territory is historical and profound. This is evidenced by the commitment of President Luigi Einaudi, a native of these lands, in promoting and enhancing this wine. Dolcetto has been present in the Dogliani hills since the year 1000, with the first documented mention dating back to 1593. Dogliani Dolcetto received DOC recognition in 1974 and was elevated to DOCG status in 2005.
Production area
The Dogliani DOCG production area extends through southern Piedmont in the Bassa Langa. The municipalities involved are characteristic rural villages, some of Roman or pre-Roman origin, others founded in the medieval period.
Organoleptic characteristics
Dogliani has an intense ruby red color with violet reflections. The aroma is intense and fragrant, with floral and fresh fruit notes such as blackberry and wild cherry. The taste is dry and harmonious, with a pleasant almond aftertaste and lively freshness due to moderate acidity.
Additional Geographic Mentions (MGA)
In 2018, 76 Additional Geographic Mentions were officially recognized, confirming the richness and variety of the production territory.
