Io, Barolo 2026 celebrates the twenty years of Strada del Barolo

On Saturday, September 12, 2026, the major tasting event organized by the Strada del Barolo e grandi vini di Langa returns to Castiglione Falletto, one of the most iconic villages in the Langhe, in the beating heart of the Barolo DOCG production area.

The event, now in its thirteenth edition, will transform the medieval village into a prestigious showcase for Barolo and its producers. The 2026 edition is particularly significant, as it coincides with the twentieth year of activity of the Strada del Barolo: two decades dedicated to enhancing the area and promoting wine culture.

From 4:00 PM to 9:30 PM, over thirty Barolo producers will be the protagonists of a walk around tasting, which will wind through the characteristic streets of the medieval center, in the shadow of the imposing 11th-century castle, offering participants a breathtaking view of the vineyards and hills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, enthusiasts and connoisseurs will have the opportunity to taste a wide range of crus and different vintages of Barolo, as well as other fine wines from the area.

How to participate in the event

Access to Io, Barolo is free and open to all. To taste the wines, you can purchase a tasting pass for 35.00 € in advance online, or 38.00 € on site (subject to availability), which allows you to taste the wines of all the producers present. Each participant will receive a glass to take home as a memory of the evening and a coupon that will allow them to visit one of the wineries present at the event with a 10% discount on any purchases.

Exclusive experiences and insights

On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the Strada del Barolo, the program is enriched with an exceptional preview: “The Anniversary Lounge, an exclusive tasting of Barolo 2006”, a journey through time hosted in the charming setting of the small church of Sant’Anna in Castiglione Falletto. Participants will have the rare privilege of tasting five Barolo DOCG wines from the 2006 vintage.

• The historic vintage: 2006 was an exceptional harvest, awarded the prestigious 5/5 stars by the Barolo Protection Consortium. Characterized by a cold winter, a balanced spring, and a warm summer free of oppressive heat, this vintage yielded Nebbiolo grapes of extraordinary longevity, backed by dense tannins and significant acidity. With a full 20 years of aging behind them, participants will taste bottles that have reached the peak of their evolutionary curve.
• A two-voice narration with the producers: the experience will be led by Sandro Minella, FISAR sommelier, ONAV taster, professional tour guide, long-time collaborator, and head of tastings for the Strada del Barolo, as well as an accredited “Narratore del Gusto®” (Taste Narrator). The added value of this event will be the presence of the winemakers in the room, who will be directly involved to share their personal perspectives on the 2006 vintage, the challenges in the vineyard, and memories of the harvest.
