History and origins
Nebbiolo, the noble grape variety of the Langa and Roero hills, finds one of its most authentic expressions in Nebbiolo d’Alba. This designation covers a territory of 25 municipalities located on both banks of the Tanaro River, testifying to the shared vocation for quality in these hills.
Production area
The grapes for Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC come from vineyards located in the municipalities of Canale, Castellinaldo, Corneliano d’Alba, Monticello d’Alba, Piobesi d’Alba, Priocca, S. Vittoria d’Alba, Vezza d’Alba, Sinio, and Govone, as well as parts of the municipalities of Alba, Bra, Baldissero d’Alba, Castagnito, Diano d’Alba, Grinzane Cavour, Guarene, La Morra, Magliano Alfieri, Monchiero, Monforte d’Alba, Montà, Montaldo Roero, Montelupo Albese, Monteu Roero, Novello, Pocapaglia, Roddi, Roddino, S. Stefano Roero, Sommariva Perno, and Verduno, all within the province of Cuneo.
Organoleptic characteristics
Nebbiolo d’Alba is a pure red wine, expressing the character of a noble and long-lived grape variety. It is distinguished by its ruby red color, which tends to garnet with aging. The aroma is intense and complex, with notes of raspberry, geranium, wild strawberry, and ethereal and spicy hints of cinnamon and vanilla. On the palate, it is a dry wine with great structure, elegant tannins, and pleasant acidity.
