The farm of Marziano Abbona takes his origins from the work of Celso, who recognizing the area’s potential for the production of top-quality wines, planted the Doriolo vineyard...

We are the Abbona family, for four generations we have cultivated the vine in the lands of Dogliani and Langa to receive its fruit. The grapes that the land gives us through the sacrifice and work of the vineyard allow us to create unique wines that carry our name and our history throughout the world.
And our history starts from far away, from Marziano and Celso at the beginning of the twentieth century, stubborn and scrupulous growers, among the first to valorise the Dolcetto variety grown in Dogliani. It was Celso himself between the two great wars who planted by hand, rootstock after rootstock, the wonderful vineyard on the Doriolo hill in Dogliani, from whose grapes the “Papà Celso” is still made, a wine dedicated to him and the flagship of the company.
Since the premature death of Celso in the early sixties to today it is Marziano who leads the company, with solid roots in the values of tradition and a great sense of innovation. This precious combination has led us to focus on the Nebbiolo grape variety since the early 1980s, concentrating all our efforts on selecting the most suitable and prestigious lands in the Barolo area, such as Ravera, Cerviano-Merli and Pressenda, from which our Barolo labels take their name.
Not just tradition, but also some small gambles: from the experimentation of Viognier that began more than 30 years ago, to the creation of the magnificent San Luigi cellar with a small annexed relais, up to the most recent bets between the fascinating territory of Barbaresco and that of Alta Langa, with its excellent vocation for Piedmontese bubbles.
Marziano, Mara and Chiara, together and united in the ideals that we know well: awareness of our roots and courage in facing new challenges to improve ourselves and enrich ourselves with experience. The same experience that can give, to those who uncork one of our bottles every day, wines with a strong identity that can excite and be remembered.
We are proud of our identity.
Every wine must be able to tell a story, its own story.
