The hilltop village of La Morra, in the typical Barolo production area, is located a few kilometers from Alba in the heart of the Langhe. Since 2014, La Morra has been included in the Unesco World Heritage list as part of the site The Wine‐growing Landscapes of Piedmont. Right here, in this stunning area, you will find Tenuta L’Illuminata, one of Guido Folonari’s estates, which is part of a larger project that has evolved and shaped itself over the years. All 10 hectares of vineyards, located at an average altitude of 340 metres above sea level with a south-west exposure, rest on sedimentary soil of Miocene origin, calcareous and sandy. The estate expresses Piedmontese viticulture at its best through the production of Barolo DOCG, Barbera d’Alba DOC, Langhe Nebbiolo DOC and Dolcetto d’Alba DOC.
The wine cellar of Tenuta L’Illuminata has been entirely renovated and equipped with all the latest technology. Ageing in wood takes place in French oak barriques and in 25 hl Slavonian oak barrels. The barrique cellar is a very charming and important space where the wine rests and elevates until bottling. Tenuta L’Illuminata’s Barolo benefits of the Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva Sant’Anna, a nomenclature created to define a precise production area in the territory, in this specific case the area of Barolo Docg.
