Fortemasso

Posted on: March 14th, 2024 by Mario Ferrero

Fortemasso winery, founded in 2013, is located in the heart of this extraordinary region; specifically in Castelletto, in the municipality of Monforte d’Alba: a fascinating place whose vineyards dominate the Langhe landscape. Fortemasso’s vineyards destined to Barolo production are located in Castelletto, on the slopes of a very steep hillside, with an elevation between 360 and 450 meters above sea level, and the soil here has a very sandy composition. A huge boulder (“masso”) stands on the highest point of the hill and gives its name to the company: it is an underwater rock that dates back to 10 million years ago. The property includes a further 8 hectares of vineyards located in San Sebastiano (Monforte), intended for the production of Langhe Nebbiolo, Barbera d’Alba Superiore and Dolcetto d’Alba.

Thanks to this area’s cool, breezy climate and the significant drop in temperature between the day and night, the grape harvest here takes place slightly later than in other areas of the Langhe region. The climatic conditions of this area, together with the altitude of the vineyards, determine a gradual level of ripening in the vines capable of producing grapes of the highest quality that give us contemporary Barolos of great complexity but extremely elegant.
The building in which Fortemasso operates was renovated in order to maintain its traditional features, while creating an elegant and modern interior. An underground facility holds the cellar, with its winemaking and ageing rooms: the subterranean, environmentally sustainable cellar is ideal for preserving the rural landscape above ground, while its design centers around modern production processes.

Viberti Giovanni

Posted on: February 26th, 2024 by Mario Ferrero

The history of Viberti Giovanni winery begins with Cavalier Antonio Viberti, who in addition to owning the Locanda del Buon Padre, started producing wine for the guests of his inn in 1923. Dolcetto, Barbera, and Nebbiolo were the three grape varieties vinified individually, and the wines were sold almost exclusively within the Buon Padre.

In 1967, Giovanni, the second son, with the assistance of his wife Maria, began taking the first steps in the family’s small cellar. In the 1970s, the winery expanded with new premises where the first fermentations in cement tanks took place. By the late 1980s, the first micro-vinifications of single vineyards in temperature-controlled steel tanks began, and sales, initially exclusively local, started to expand to European countries. The 1990s marked the beginning of exports to the US market.

Today, Viberti Giovanni winery continues its story with the third generation, where Claudio, the youngest son, is directly involved in winemaking and management operations, introducing new technologies and expanding both the company’s surface area and the range of wines produced.

Fratelli Savigliano

Posted on: February 26th, 2024 by Mario Ferrero

A story that began in the second half of the 18th century with Lorenzo Savigliano, a great winegrower and passionate cellarman, who showed the way to future generations who continued his work. Enrico Savigliano at the beginning of the 20th century brought wine appreciation to Piedmont and his sons, Dario and Giuseppe, actually founded the company, making wine production the main activity.

The current story tells of a winery run by cousins Marino (Dario’s son) and Stefano (Giuseppe’s son), who joined the company in the 1970s after studying oenology. Two minds for a single goal: to continue family management and increase the prestige of the brand. Two aspects that have evolved over time with the acquisition of new vineyards owned in the municipalities of Diano d’Alba, Montelupo, La Morra and Treiso. The expansion of the wine cellar in Valle Talloria, the new market shares at international level, and the great passion for working in the vineyard and cellar are aspects that marked the 2000s and projected the Fratelli Savigliano company towards new goals.

Luigi Vico/Serralunga Casa Mia

Posted on: February 2nd, 2024 by Mario Ferrero

The Luigi Vico Farm was officially born in 2016, the year that corresponds to Luigi’s first harvest, despite having origins dating back to 1694, according to the first information on the landholdings of the family of Luigi’s mother, originally from Serralunga d’Alba.

Today Luigi Vico’s viticultural reality counts 2.1ha of vineyards in the Barolo area, grown organically (under certification) from which he obtains a limited production of Barolo from the municipality of Serralunga d’Alba and Barolo Prapò, vinified respecting a the only imperative: to enhance the territory in which the Nebbiolo is best expressed.

On the side, Luigi Vico created a place dedicated to the curious and passionate wine tourist. Serralunga Casa Mia was created for those who want to have unique taste experiences, to pass on the practices of the ancient tradition implemented in the vineyard, the basis of material culture from the area, and to evoke authentic flavours, now unobtainable elsewhere.

Besimauda – MEAT

Posted on: February 2nd, 2024 by Mario Ferrero

The Besimauda farm was established in 2000 in the province of Cuneo in Peveragno at the foot of the mountain from which it takes its name.

Family-run, it is now in its third generation of farmers. It all began when grandfather Rino (Matteo) started breeding and trading cattle in the early 1950s.

Our mission is to produce high quality meat. We use only the best raw materials and carefully control all phases of animal growth. In this way, we can achieve a pink meat of extreme tenderness, delicate to the palate and low in fat.
Since the third generation of breeders, we have decided to take the most important step by adopting the ‘short chain’ policy: a healthy, controlled meat, with a short route from us (producers) to you (consumers). All following the ancient Piedmontese breeding traditions, paying the utmost attention to the native territory of the native heifers, the landscape and showing special care and attention to the animals. Our first strong point, of which we are particularly proud, is the great care we take in choosing the feed for our animals because, after all, ‘we are what we eat’. For our heifers we follow the diet of the ancient Piedmontese tradition, taking advantage of what our territory offers us: controlled cereals of the highest quality without the use of silage or by-products.

G.D. Vajra

We produce Barolo but not only, because we love all the wines of our land. We believe in beauty, in work well done, in the attention to details, in creativity that respects tradition. We are a family and artisan company.

We are accompanied by a young team, enthusiastic and passionate as we are. We directly follow the work of our vineyards, because it is the basis of uncompromising quality, but above all because we like it so much. Our wines are born elegant, complex, delicate. They have the identity and personality that we would like to find in every glass on our table.

Abrigo Fratelli

We are a family business, founded in 1935 in Diano d’Alba. Since that time we have been producing the classic “fine wines” of the Langhe. Today we count 25 hectares of vineyards spread between Diano d’Alba, Novello and Sinio; with an annual production of about 50.000 bottles. Every day we are available to welcome wine lovers and tourists at our winery to better promote our reality and territory.
