Saturday 8 July 2023: a party with music, tasty food and wine pairings to celebrate Dolcetto wine in all its denominations.

Strada del Barolo e grandi vini di Langa and the municipality of Rodello are organizing the first edition of the “Dolcetto Summer Fest”, an event to celebrate and promote the Dolcetto wine, which collects the legacy of the Dolcetto d’Alba Festival organized for eight editions by the Municipality of Rodello. Located at more than 500 meters above sea level, on the ridge of a hill south of Alba, Rodello is known for the cool and windy climate even in summer and for the beautiful view that ranges over the Lower Langa and the plain of the Tanaro river stretching all the way to the Alpine chain on clear days.

This will be the perfect setting for the “Dolcetto Summer Fest”: a great outdoor tasting event, which, on Saturday 8 July 2023, will bring to the historic centre of Rodello more than 40 producers of Dolcetto from different areas of Piedmont, street food with the agri-food producers of Strada del Barolo, workshops, show cooking, a blind tasting contest, DJ sets and much more, to celebrate one of the most representative varieties of Piedmont and discover the charm and authenticity of a village of Langa, still uncontaminated because less frequented by tourists.

Pleasantly fruity and with excellent drinkability, Dolcetto is a versatile wine, which has many identities (there are 12 wines with denomination of origin produced with this vine), which adapts well to different foods: this is why the event program includes, in addition to the presence of the Dolcetto producers, also gastronomic stands. Here it will be possible to taste the products of the territory, experimenting with delicious wine&food combinations in a festive and convivial atmosphere with music, and enjoying the panorama and the pleasant evening breeze that in summer refreshes the village of Rodello.

The program includes, in the first part of the day, a round table on Dolcetto with interventions of the President of Consorzio di Tutela Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe e Dogliani  Matteo Ascheri, the Director of Ente Turismo Langhe Monferrato Roero Bruno Bertero, the producer Tino Colla, of the company Poderi Colla, the oenologist Prof. Luigi Bertini, the Lawyer Diego Saluzzo, President of UGIVI – Unione Giuristi della Vite e del Vino, Adelino Icardi, owner of the SeVinoVà consultancy company and the President of Strada del Barolo e grandi vini di Langa  Lorenzo Olivero.

Following the blind tasting competition aimed at professionals in the sector that will reward the best Dolcetto 2021, there will be a Wine&Rice Experience organized in collaboration with Strada del Riso Vercellese di Qualità and a Masterclass on Dolcetto addressed to the attending producers, led by Francesco Saverio Russo, wine populariser and blogger, author of wineblogroll.com.

In the afternoon, starting at 4.30 pm, the tasting dedicated to wine lovers will begin. The participants have the opportunity to access the event by purchasing a wine tasting pass at a cost of €20.00 + pre-sale rights. The pass includes the free taste of over 150 labels of Dolcetto personally presented by more than 40 producers, consortia and associations coming from the main areas where this important vine is grown, such as Dogliani, Diano d’Alba and Ovada.

The gastronomic stands will be located throughout the historic centre, next to the tasting tables of the Dolcetto producers and in the municipal square will be set up a space with tables and chairs to taste wines and gastronomic products enjoying the amazing view on the hills of Langhe and Roero.

The evening will be enlivened by the music of DJ NO|Comply, a balanced combination of elegant acoustic sounds and energetic more electronic influences, the result of the different musical experiences of Marco Langella and Tiziano Bruno.
