Friday, June 21st, 2013, at the Castle of Serralunga d’Alba, the “Crus” of Barolo will be revealed in two special events with “narrated tasting” from the top of the castle.
It is the longest day of the year and you can watch the magical sunset over the mountains and the hills of the Langhe from the Castle of Serralunga. Friday, June 21st, the day of the summer solstice, in Serralunga d’Alba is celebrating the arrival of the new season with an evening of unusual requests that will lead participants to discover the rooms of the Castle, the surrounding area and its wines, in an original and engaging way.
At 7.00pm and 8.00pm two appointments for a special tasting of Barolo in the presence of its places of origin. If, on the one hand, just in Serralunga the “King of wines” found a particularly favorable soil and some of the best and most historic “Cru” of the entire production area, on the other hand, the Castle has a very strong bond with the surrounding territory, an expression of extraordinary wines.
From this combination comes the proposal of a special evening with a visit to the Castle, to highlight its historic and fundamental role in the organization of the rural surrounding hills, and the narrated tasting of two glasses of Barolo and one of Moscato on the third floor of the Castle, where the breathtaking views and the guidance of an expert will allow the identification of the vineyards from which the wines tasted are produced.
All this in the company of a tour guide expert in oenology, that will tell the audience anecdotes and curiosities about the wines for tasting, offered by producers of the “Bottega del Vino di Serralunga“.
The event, sponsored by “Barolo & Castles Foundation” and “Castellidoc Langhe and Roero“, in agreement with the “Soprintendenza per i Beni Architettonici e Paesaggistici” (Superintendence for Architectural Heritage and Landscape), is sponsored by the “Strada del Barolo and great wines of Langa”.
