With the aim of encouraging the increase of the tourist flow in the cellars and hotel facilities, the association Strada del Barolo e grandi vini di Langa presented the activities planned for 2017.
Strada del Barolo is planning a series of initiatives to attract tourists and wine-lovers to the beautiful hills UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition to numerous confirmations, for 2017 some interesting innovations are planned, including some improvements to the event format “Io, Barolo” and the strengthening of cooperation with the Enoteca Regionale del Barolo.
Monday May 1st 2017 – Treasure Hunt in the Barolo area: along the hilly area of Langhe, several crews in cars and motorbikes will follow different routes to “flush out” the clues that will lead them to the “ultimate treasure.”
Saturday May 27th 2017 – Io, Barolo: an other very welcome confirmation for the lovers of the “King of Wines” scattered around Italy and the world. The producers of the Strada del Barolo will present to the public the 2013 vintage of Barolo in the beautiful setting of the Roddi Castle, with an unlimited tasting of over 30 labels of Barolo.
Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th October 2017 – Rendez-vous on the Strada del Barolo: a whole weekend dedicated to wine-lovers and to all lovers of the Langhe, who will have the opportunity to visit the cellars, meeting the producers and tasting their wines. The restaurants will propose special menus with typical dishes, museums and castles will be open for guided tours and the associated hotels and facilities will propose special packages and discounts!
A delicate and refined menu to celebrate the New Year.
With the offer you can enjoy a relaxing time in our SPA waiting for the delights proposed by the Chef and rest until later surrounded by walls that breathe life and history of the monks of San Colombano that inhabited these places.

The guided tastings of Strada del Barolo return: all the Alba Truffle, from October 8th to November 27th 2016 and for the whole month of October, special meetings at the Municipal Wine Cellar of Castiglione Falletto.
After having become a must see event for hundreds of wine lovers who visit Langhe, the Wine Tasting Experience®, original tasting event devised by Strada del Barolo, will become, as usual, part of the official programme of the International White Truffle Fair of Alba. The meetings will be held every Saturday at 5.30 pm (in English) and every Sunday at 3.30 pm (in Italian) from October 8th to November 27th 2016 at Cortile della Maddalena.
“The taste of the hills”, “The Crus of the king” and “The many faces of Nebbiolo” are the topics that will alternate during the entire fair. “The Taste of the Hills” is an introductory journey among the most peculiar productions of Piedmont, with the tasting of four different wines like Arneis, Dolcetto, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Barolo and Moscato; “The Crus of the King” is a journey marked by the tasting of three different Barolo labels; while “The many faces of Nebbiolo”, new proposal of this season, will compare Barolo, Barbaresco and Roero to explain the different expressions of the Nebbiolo vine variety.
The tastings will last about one hour and the tickets can be purchased directly on the website www.winetastingexperience.it at a cost of 23 euros per person (educational material and entrance at the Truffle Market included).
Moreover, big news this year, on schedule there are the “Food & Wine Experiences”, a series of special events with the Wine Tasting Experiences® paired with top quality food products of Piedmont which will take place, for the entire month of October, at Cantina Comunale di Castiglione Falletto, the municipal wine cellar of Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of the Barolo Langa.
On this occasion, the best wines of Piedmont will meet the traditional food delicacies of the region in an exceptional mariage of taste. Protagonists of these two tastings will be Robiola di Roccaverano D.O.P., the only historical goat cheese of Italy, and the only one that can be compared to famous chèvres of France, the top quality cold cuts of Piedmont offered by “Agrisalumeria Luiset” and a selection of sweets prepared with the Nocciola Tonda Gentile del Piemonte I.G.P., the traditional hazelnut of Piedmont, universally recognized as the best in the world. The topics will always be “The taste of the Hills” and “the Crus of Barolo” and the wines will be carefully selected according to the food pairings in order to bring out the organoleptic peculiarities of the different products that will be tasted. The cost of the “Food & Wine Experiences” will be 28 euros per person.
Following the example of the French Ecole Du Vin, appointments go beyond the traditional tasting in a wine cellar, a typical stop for the wine tourists, especially for the opportunity to compare labels from different producers at one appointment. The tastings are guided by territory experts capable of explaining the secrets of the wines and satisfying any curiosity: the “teachers” are, in fact, producers, oenologists or skilled sommeliers, everyone with a personal point of view, with their opinions on the value of the perfumes in a stem glass, the pairings between food and wine, as well as the characteristics of the wines in relation to their terroir.
Questions from the audience, in-depth lessons, curiosity, tips on how to taste, wines of different producers: all these elements will make the Wine Tasting Experiences® a new way to approach the wine world, beside being a unique occasion to discover all the details of the production of the Langhe and Roero region. To make the Wine Tasting Experiences® more and more experiential and to directly involve the participants, the guides will use a video rich in infographics and interactive maps.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE – With an eye on the growing number of foreign wine tourists, the Wine Tasting Experiences® are also conducted in English.
EXCLUSIVE WINE TASTING EXPERIENCES® – In addition to the scheduled events, it is always possible to organize a tailored Wine Tasting Experience® exclusively for groups of at least six people, who can decide, together with the organizers, dates, time, location, languages (beside Italian: English, French and German) and, of course, the wines to taste!
