Io, Barolo 2019: success of public and quality

700 people from all around Italy and abroad to celebrate the “King of Wines”

A very positive outcome for “Io, Barolo 2019”, the seventh edition of the big event of Strada del Barolo: Saturday, June 1, gave the approximately 700 participants an amazing evening with music, good food and top quality wines inside the enchanting Castel of Roddi, open to guided tours.

There were the wines of 31 Barolo producers, who proposed different crus and vintages to taste, but also masterclasses and in-depth workshops, all sold out, which recorded a great success of participants especially among the youngest people (aged 25-35): the Food&Wine Experiences hosted by Federico Bellini, the Wine Tasting Experiences® 4.0 guided by Sandro Minella and the Masterclass dedicated to sparkling wines made with Nebbiolo grapes led by Cantina Social.

The pubblic was definitely young but also extremely prepared and interested in discovering better the Barolo world. The attendees were mainly from the Italian North West Regions such as Piedmont, Lombardia and Liguria but also from other Italian regions and, we could also register a good presence from other countries such as Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, France and Taiwan thus confirming the international interest for this wine.

The enthusiasts of Barolo and Langhe landscapes, declared Unesco World Heritage, had the opportunity to taste the dishes prepared by Danilo Lorusso, chef of La Crota restaurant, as the perfect conclusion to a journey at the discovery of the “King of Wines”, along the narrow streets and little squares of the medieval village of Roddi, from Piazza Umberto I up to the belvedere, at the feet of the Castle.

Throughout the entire afternoon, in the garden of the Roddi Castle, there were live interviews with producers and visitors broadcasted on Facebook and Instagram. These interviews were carried out by the team of Cantina Social, a project started in December 2015 with the aim of reaching and informing people connected to the wine sector through a conscious and entertaining communication system.

The event was organized with the contribution of Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo, the patronage of Associazione per il Patrimonio dei Paesaggi Vitivinicoli di Langhe-Roero e Monferrato and the Barolo&Castles Foundation, thanks to the collaboration with Municipality, Pro Loco of Roddi and Turismo in Langa.
