WiMu (Wine Museum) – Museo del Vino a Barolo

That which is Italy’s most innovative wine museum, as well as one of the world’s most important, opened in September 2010. Created from the imagination of François Confino, a designer of displays and installations in museums all over the world, the Museum is an interactive and emotional voyage through the world of wine, both cultural product and producer, able to trace the evolution of entire civilizations, to influence great artistic expression, and to shape territories and their people.
As Confino clearly stated: «I have visited several museums dedicated to wine in the world. But none of them told of wine’s extraordinary cultural dimensions. It was fundamental for me to create a poetic museum course for visitors. Not a place where you learn how wine is made, but a place to talk about the relationship between “us” and “it.”».
The Wi.Mu. is also a tribute to the history of the castle and its illustrious inhabitants. The last marquises of Barolo, Carlo Tancredi Falletti and his wife Juliette Colbert, better- known as Giulia di Barolo.
