Schiavenza

It is here in Serralunga d’Alba, always considered one of the pillars of the Barolo denomination that, in 1956, the Schiavenza farm was born.
In the past, the farmhouse with the surrounding lands were owned by the Opera Pia Barolo and the work was carried out by sharecroppers called “schiavenza”, hence the origin of the curious name of the winery.
The business, started by the brothers Vittorio and Ugo Alessandria, is now managed by their son-in-law Luciano Pira, agronomist and cellarman, assisted by his wife Maura and his brother-in-law Walter. Currently the farm can count on about 8 hectares of vineyards in the territory of Serralunga d’Alba and about 3 hectares in Perno, a hamlet of the municipality of Monforte d’Alba. From these lands we obtain red wines of great quality and structure, strongly linked to the territory from which they come, such as Barolo DOCG, Barbera d’Alba DOC, Dolcetto d’Alba DOC, Langhe DOC Nebbiolo and Barolo Chinato.
