Fortemasso

Fortemasso winery, founded in 2013, is located in the heart of this extraordinary region, specifically in Castelletto, in the municipality of Monforte d’Alba: a fascinating place whose vineyards dominate the Langhe landscape. Fortemasso’s vineyards destined to Barolo production are located on the slopes of a very steep hillside, with an elevation between 360 and 450 meters, and the soil here has a very sandy composition. A huge boulder (“masso”) that dates back to 10 million years ago, stands on the highest point of the hill and gives its name to the company. This area’s cool, breezy climate together with the altitude of the vineyards, determine a gradual level of ripening in the vines capable of producing grapes of the highest quality that give us contemporary Barolos of great complexity but extremely elegant. The property includes a further 10 hectares of vineyards located in San Sebastiano (Monforte), intended for the production of Langhe Nebbiolo, Barbera d’Alba Superiore and Dolcetto d’Alba. An underground facility holds the cellar, with its winemaking and ageing rooms: the subterranean, environmentally sustainable cellar is ideal for preserving the rural landscape above ground, while its design centers around modern production processes.
