Two more degree awards presented in memory of Mauro Daniele
On Wednesday 27 November 2024, at the Ampelion headquarters in Alba, on the occasion of the winter session of the degrees of the Degree Course in Viticulture and Oenology, two other degree prizes worth € 500.00 were awarded in memory of Mauro Daniele, after the first two awarded in July 2023.
The two students judged most deserving by the specially formed commission were Dr. Sofia Pecchenino, who presented a final report entitled “I vini orange – orange wines”, and Dr. Alberto Pinto, with the final report entitled “Confusione sesso vibrazionale per la gestione di scaphoideus titanus”.
We recall that the Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Food Sciences of the University of Turin has committed to establishing two study awards for 4 years, worth € 500.00, in memory of Mauro Daniele: these awards are assigned following the unquestionable judgment of a special commission, composed of professors Vincenzo Gerbi, Silvia Guidoni and Luca Rolle representing DISAFA- University of Turin, by Savio Daniele representing the Le Strette farm and the Daniele family and by Lorenzo Olivero, President of the Strada del Barolo e grandi vini di Langa.
The “A Barolo PERMAURO” initiative was promoted in memory of Mauro Daniele, oenologist, co-owner of the Le Strette agricultural company and vice-president of the Strada del Barolo, who passed away in July 2021: the sale of a limited selection of bottles of Barolo DOCG Bergera Pezzole 2017 with a dedicated “Permauro” label allowed the creation of a net fund of €5,500.00, of which €4,000.00 were allocated to the establishment of a series of prizes for deserving graduates of the Degree Course in Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Turin, while the remaining €1,500.00 will be allocated to the Municipality of Novello for the implementation of a project to enhance the territory, to be defined in collaboration with the Municipality itself.
The wine chosen for this initiative was vinified by the Le Strette Agricultural Company in the twentieth anniversary year. The winery was founded, in fact, in 1997 by the brothers Mauro and Savio Daniele, who believed so much in this territory and in the potential of the municipality of Novello, investing time, energy and a lot of passion for its enhancement, both through wines obtained from the most renowned native vines such as Nebbiolo, and believing in the pioneering rediscovery of the oldest and rarest ones, such as Nas-cëtta from the municipality of Novello.
The Daniele family thanks those who contributed to raising this sum that will allow us to remember Mauro Daniele’s commitment and passion for the land of Langa through a concrete and tangible legacy.
